MineAwareVR
MineAware VR is the pre-eminent landmine and explosive remnants of war (ERW) sensitization training for all those who wish to understand the landmine and ERW threat in currently illegally invaded countries as well as how to keep themselves, their colleagues and loved ones safe, if the find themselves in a suspected landmine or ERW contaminated area.
Safer Access Consulting presents: MineAware VR for the Quest 2 VR platform. MineAware VR has been designed based on hundreds of hours of landmine and explosive remenants of war (ERW) orientation and sensitization training in contexts such as Ukraine.
MineAware VR provides an interactive theoretical and practical experience for users who are living or working in countries with a real landmine and ERW threat. Knowledge gain from this experience will give the users a realistic exposure to what actual landmines and ERWs look like in the real world, but of course in a controled and safe environment.
The theory is transformed into practical and real-world applicable skills when users are taught a protocol which will help themselves, their colleagues and loved ones safe, if they find themselves in a suspected landmine or ERW contaminated area.
The Experience?
The app features informational panels where you can read detailed descriptions and learn about various types of landmines and ERWs. These panels and their interactive objects provide essential knowledge to help you recognize and understand different threats.
Additionally, there is an interactive practical area where you can apply what you've learned. In this section, you will explore simulated scenes, search for mines, and identify potential threats. This hands-on experience is designed to sharpen your detection skills and improve your ability to stay safe in real-world situations.
MineAwareVR and Ukraine
The main inspiration for this project has been through the war in Ukraine. Our team of dedicated specialists working in and around the actual warzone have allowed us intimate knowledge of the situation and continues to inform us of how our app should function. It is our greatest wish that no one is harmed by landmines or Explosive Remnants of War. We will never provide virtual situations where the user can touch or play with any potentially dangerous object.
Our hopes for MineAwareVR is that we can continue development to bring more functionality and more varied training scenarios to the application. With a portion of proceeds going to worthy Ukrainian causes, it's our genuine hope that we might also be able bring this training program to other platforms.
From the developer
It has been both rewarding and heartbreaking working on MineAwareVR, and my prayers and wishes go out to everyone who is currently suffering in this desperate and horrifying situation. I urge anyone who might be interested in garnering more knowledge about the conflict, or the current situation to check out these documentaries: "20 days in Mariupol" and to gain a deeper understanding of the history of what is going on, "Winter on Fire"
As always, if you're interested in donating some funds, anything and everything helps.
